Even during the shutdown, CES PTA was working hard for our students, teachers, and staff at CES. Because of the amazing generosity from our sponsors, parents, and community members at our 2019 Fall Festival and Silent Auction, CES PTA has been able to do a number of great things in 2020.
- During the 2019-2020 school year, we awarded over $6,500 in mini-grants which allowed our CES Staff members to purchase $200 each worth of items for their specific classrooms.
- In the spring of 2020, CES PTA approved the purchase of 20 wired keyboards for our 3rd grade classes. This will allow each class to utilize 5 keyboards. These can easily be sanitized and passed to different students throughout the year. This allows 3rd grade students to learn typing skills using their district issued iPads while in their classrooms or at home.
- At the request of the first grade teachers, CES PTA approved the building of a duck aviary to accommodate hatched ducks from the life cycle study. Dad's Club offered to build the aviary with the plan suggestions provided by Mrs. Light (Light, nee Feaster) and was scheduled to begin building the aviary just before COVID. It has been put on hold until the spring of 2021 for the next round of ducks.
- At the request of our Learning Liaison, Cindy Pearson, CES PTA approved the purchase of the CES subscription for Education Galaxy software program which was used during the COVID crisis learning in Spring 2020 and will continue to be utilized during the 2020-2021 school year.
- Also in the spring of 2020, CES PTA was able to award two $1,000 student scholarships to some very deserving former CES Cowboys, Chase Panno & Colin Means.
- In May 2020, CES PTA was able to provide a much needed Staff Appreciation Week for all of our CES Staff. Even during a pandemic, we were able to pull together and offer each staff member two $25 gift cards to their store of choice as a show of appreciation.
- Already during the 2020-2021 school year, PTA has been hard at work. The day of "See the Teacher" at CES, PTA was able to provide over 50 Jason's Deli boxed lunches for all staff.
- CES PTA was able to purchase 22 "Units of Study" to the Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing Teacher's College. This has been an important program PTA has been able to fund for the past several years at CES for our teachers and staff in alignment with goals of LEAD 2021.
There are still a few months left in 2020 and we plan to rock those as well.
